The Insider GUC, the first branch of the largest student newspaper in the Middle East, has had a second successful transfer of leadership to Peter Samir, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief.

“Though having to go through many challenges, The Insider GUC team showed quite a performance last semester and maintained the known quality of our independent student newspaper,” said Peter Samir.

“I would like to thank our former chief editor Maged Shalaby, who had been a great leader to all of The Insider family and an inspiring mentor to me personally,” he added.

On the other hand, older members have been praised for their work; among them Mohamed Shousha who graduated this year, while Ahmed Abd El Aty has been promoted to head of photography at The Insider GUC, taking over from Norhan Kamal.

“Rana Fetit and Khloud Khaled, co-founders of The Insider Debates, are still mentoring our members at the newspaper, for their vast experience with us throughout the past years,” said Shaheer Shaheen.

“This year’s new members are very passionate about our work and I expect great things from them for the future of The Insider GUC and The Insider organisation as a whole,” said Tarek Fawzy, The Insider organisation head of organising committee.

“I’ve been lucky to witness some of you really grow, and for the new members, be sure to know that you will too,” wrote Maged Shalaby, adding: “I know you guys will carry on and do some great work ahead.”

The Insider GUC now competes with eleven other teams working in nine universities in Egypt! Taking the branch’s performance to a new level is what we have promised to deliver. And as an organisation, we are about to initiate some new, creative and proactive projects that serve our vision to unite and empower students,” Peter Samir concluded.
